Hello!
My name is Jill and I believe I have found my family - YOU! Do you still remember me? Am I still accepted in the family? I promise to make cheesecake if I'm invited for the holidays! Well, it's been a long time and I'm sorry I haven't blogged. It has been more than hectic here. We moved a month ago and you would never know it with all of the boxes stacked in the garage and in the bedrooms. We bought a new townhouse, 2 story, 3 bedrooms. It's the exact model/plan as the townhome that Anne and I lived in together. It's the perfect starter home for us! Our first mortgage payment is due next week so we don't really like that part of the whole thing, but I guess we'll pay it. I would love to show you pics, but we can't find the cord for the digital camera! (I'm sure it's in one of the many unopened boxes!) I have a new camera that I haven't figured out yet either so please use your imagination on what the place looks like.
School has been really difficult this year. I have a tough group of 3rd graders, or at least a handful that will take every ounce of patience I have. I say it every year, but I think this year is the most difficult. We are piloting a new online gradebook and report card system, and glitches are popping up daily. We have a new math curriculum that was supposedly aligned with the state's standards, but is so far out of alignment that we're being told to just deal with it and the fact that our students will not do well when it comes to testing! I don't have my trusty sidekick Anne anymore since she moved across town, so it's depressing at times. I vent to her voicemail and email quite often. I think I should have been less greedy and accepted a position at a 12 month school. Our lovely governor has also decided to chop education funds so we have been busy trying to cut $122,000 out of our school's budget for next year. What fun!
On the positive side, David's job is going well. He's been talking about applying for a new property opening next summer, which is a pretty big promotion. He has a few opportunities in the next year that he's being considered for so things look good.
Anyhoo...once again, it sounds as though carving was fun. When will the pics of the masterpieces be on the blog? We miss all of you. It sounds as though we will probably be home the weekend after Christmas Day. Is that still the plan?
Love,
Jill and David

NO pics of pumpkins until we see pics of your house! Congrats on the house and all -- now find the cord and upload pics!
BTW -- a cheesecake will erase all hostility from me, but you may have more work to do on your older sister -- she's higher maintenance!
Hi Jill! So glad to hear from you. We were beginning to wonder what happened. You are forgiven, but cheesecake is your mandatory sentence for the next time we see you.
Yes, unfortunately those new houses do come with a mortgage. And, given the activities on Wall Street over the past month, I think they'll expect you to pay it.
I'll be posting about Christmas soon. I think we are set if it works for you. Mom is trying to do a little juggling with work. I believe everyone else has weighed in.
Hope you are still doing well! Glad to see that you haven't forgotten how to post a note! Take care.
Hi Jilly-
Congrats on the new home! I can't wait to see it. Bummer about school, but look on the bright side at least you have a job you are passionate about and a roof over your head!
Anyway, can't wait to see you guys soon. Tell Vegas Dave hi. We sure miss you two.
