Hello everyone,
I just wanted to give everyone an update on my employment status. It was a long day today, but I came out of it with my job. There were a total of 78 job cuts today of which 16 were in the IT department. My team and my bosses team did not have to cut anyone so that is the good news. The bad news is that I knew almost all of the 16 that did get cut. It was hard to hear some of them get cut as they were friends of mine. Hopefully this will be the last cut for some time. I am also hoping this economy turns around so that people can feel safe and secure in what they do.
I hope you all are doing fine and that you are having a good fall. I am not sure we will make it home for pumpkin carving as Taylor has a VB game that Saturday and it sounds like she kind of wants to play at it. If she changes her mind then I will let you know, but for now it is not looking very good. This will likely relieve the rest of you, because now you will at least have a chance to win the contest. hehe.....
Well I have rambled long enough. Talk to you soon.
Terry

Was really glad to read your note and to find your job still intact. We have been keeping our fingers crossed since you called Dad. This whole economy thing is rather unnerving!! We have been watching our IRA deplete by leaps and bounds over the past months, (at a much greater rate this last month). Retirement doesn't look like a option-- and my hope is that all the millions in loans my employer took out for the current building project doesn't come crashing down on us. What do you suppose will happen with those kind of loans. Really makes me nervous when I hear the hospital census is down or maybe noone. At least on my end of the facility we are plenty busy and nearly full. (Will people be able to pay for nursing home care? Will Medicare and Medicade continue? Already the place has had a shortfall the past years---)
Oh well, guess one should just continue gardening (relatively cheap) horse riding ( not quite as cheap maintenace wise)and canning tomatoes--- we might need the groceries.
Wish you guys were coming home too, although I know how it is with a "tween"- peers rank pretty high for those years. Maybe another time, huh?
We are so thankful he didn't lose his job this round. It is so very scary right now and when you have two presidential candidates that can't seem to give a straight answer as to what there plans are to fix the economy, that even makes it more depressing. Last nights debate was one I could have missed out on...except we got to see who Joe the Plumber was on the news this morning. One good thing...gas prices have come down some and another good thing...we are all healthy and I know that is what matters most. Hope you are enjoying the beautiful fall weather. I know I am...the colors are peaking here this week, they are so beautiful. Reminds me of that beautiful fall day a few years ago mom we went for a horseback ride...you and I.
Love to you all.
Terry -- glad to hear your job was spared. That's no fun for anyone. Have a good weekend.
Thanks for letting us know, Terry, as I've been thinking about you all week. We are very glad you survived the cuts, but I'm sure it wasn't easy either.
Sorry you can't make pumpkin carving. But yes, we are all breathing so much easier since we won't have you to compete with!
Take care.
