This past weekend we covered the spectrum of sporting activities. My 75-year-old mom played in a "granny" basketball game Friday night at my old high school for charity and Kade played in his first organized sporting event on Saturday -- "micro" YMCA soccer for four and five-year olds.We drove over to watch my mom -- it was quite the event. The oldest player was 84 -- most of the players were in their 60s and 70s. My m
other was one of the more scrappier ones. She still has the competitive juices, it seems. As you can see by the photo (mom is on the left), they dressed in 1920s basketball clothing -- not exactly Nike apparel, though I dig the socks!

He's one of the smaller boys out there, so to see his goal and ensuing celebration dance was pretty cool for us parents.
We've been informed we have the duty of bringing the after-game refreshments next week (I think he meant for the kids). I guess that means we've been officially indoctrinated into the "Soccer Mom" club.

Yeah Kade! You look pretty professional out there. As for your parents I think it is time for minivan! I am happy to supply the "Soccer Mom is my Life" bumper sticker.
I figured there'd be a minivan comment from the peanut gallery. Those things are outlawed in this family! There's a better chance of us all riding bikes to the soccer games :)
I agree with the Thurston 5. I think the minivan is closer then what Kev and Bob wnat to admit. Between the soccer matches and the mile runs. It is going to take at least a mini van to hold all of the sports equipment.
Great job on getting that first goal of the year Kade. You got game boy. We have an extra car seat for that minivan if you know what I mean.

Wow! Great pictures-- Kade, you look like a real pro out there. Boy, do I hope Grampa and I can get to watch a couple of those soccer games this summer. Jacob also is hoping to play soccer this summer.
Kevin, your mom is great! Love to see people our age doing fun stuff like that. Hope she enjoyed it enough to do more. The costumes were wonderful! Love Mom
