For the past couple weeks I have been helping one of our companies sell natural gas. Once a year, a good chunk of central and western Nebraska residents get to choose their natural gas supplier for the next year. One of our companies is one of the suppliers, so we have a call center set up for two weeks.
This year, I was recruited to work in the call center to help handle calls from larger usage customers (commercial type) to sign up with us. The sign-up period ends Thursday, May 1. I'll be glad -- I'm not used to being on the phone that much and will be happy to return to my old office.
It's been an educating experience, though, as I've learned quite a bit.
So if you have any questions on natural gas -- throw 'em my way! And much like everything else, it's getting more expensive. :)

I told them I thought he'd be good at selling natural gas since he's so good at making it naturally. Ha. ha.
Don't tell me all the rest of you weren't going to come up with some similar type of comment.........
They should have recruited Terry! :)
Don't worry Bobbie, I was just about to write the same joke, but you beat me to it.
Kevin - What I want to know is how many sales did you close? If you do too good of a job you may have a new calling, Sales?
Just so you know, we Minnesotan's prefer "Wind Bags" instead of someone who is "Full of Gas". Either way they make energy and Kevin might be good at either one. :)
Hey by the way thanks for the b-day greatings this week. It was a stellar performance.
Terry
Kevin - as you can see, I live with the "King of Natural Gas" he should bottle and sell his. Maybe the two of you could go into a new venture together.

I signed up between 20-40 accounts each day. In all, the company signed up over 10,000 accounts -- most of those being residential accounts (homes). Our company had the most -- the other two suppliers signed up about 6,000 and 3,000. Many customers don't actively choose their supplier each year -- if they don't make a choice, they stay with the supplier they had the previous year.
I was locking in gas sales to larger commercial accounts such as schools, colleges, businesses, power plants.
That's more info than you probably wanted, but it was interesting to work in an area most people don't know a whole lot about.
Wow Kevin sounds like you are quite a salesman. When you would like to reitre from the gas business you are welcome to come and work for me in the communications industry. We could use a good sales guy like yourself. No kissing up to the boss just because were family doesn't mean you have the upper edge.
