Kindergarten starts

So Kade is officially in Kindergarten. Armed with his SpongeBob Squarepants backpack, he took his first day in stride -- no tears (at least from him). Mom, however, shed a few while dad remained callous as ever ;).

I'd post a pic, but it's late and I'm feeling lazy. Just figured I share the Kindergarten news. It's only a matter of time before he requests a cell phone. And dad replies with a big, fat NO.

Dear Pa and Ma Wickham,

You have crossed one of those thresholds, never to return to life as it was before!! You do have a few cool years left, before Kade starts commenting on your clothes, manners, hobbies and general intelligence. Everyone else's parents always look more interesting, somehow!!

Never the less, he will make you foolishly proud sometimes, (like when a parent tells you what a nice mannered little fella he is-- you silently wonder whose kid they are talking about), or when he shows an unexpected kindness to someone who needs it, (probably Not Mom and Dad). He will drive you to drink when he doesn't listen to your good advice and insists on finding out for himself, (and you must sit helplessly by and watch).

What a ride-- I wouldn't trade a moment of the whole business. It goes by so fast! The fun is just beginning!!! Love Mom/Grandma

The time goes by so fast, Sharon. We're just trying to enjoy it while he still somewhat thinks we know what we're talking about. We know those days are numbered.

Thanks for the note, Mom. I find myself relishing every "cute" moment he still has.....like Friday night, when we were watching a show that included a dispute between two adults over whose "fault" an accident was, he suggested they settle it with "rock, paper, scissors." Not a bad suggestion, really.

He took a tumble off the monkey bars on Saturday at the park. He was going for the next bar, missed and fell from about five feet and landed flat on his back and head. Scared the living daylights out of us. Thank goodness nothing harmed. I found myself thinking, how did mom and dad ever survive five of us with their nerves still intact?!

Hopefully week two of kindergarten will go as well as the first. Has anyone else started school yet up there?

Hi to everyone and hope you are all doing well!

How exciting! Does Kade love it? Bella sure wishes she could go to school. She has to watch as all her friends get on the bus every morning. It about kills her. She does enjoy being the oldest at Amy's for a few short hours.

I am sure I will be posting the same sappy stuff next year. I also have been cherishing every moment. Isabella made a milestone by conquering the rings at the playground. She can now make it all the way across with no help. The twins were pretty fed up with being by the play equipment so we took a little adventure through the baseball diamonds, visited the waterfountain and looked at a loader. It is so much fun seeing things through their eyes. I wish I didn't have to go back to work today. Everyday kills me a little bit more dropping them off for someone else to take care of.
Anyway, congrats on the milestone. Bobbie, make sure to tell me how much tissue I am going to need.

Love Jeannie
