Hi Everyone Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!
I hope all your Thanksgiving events were well. We are all blessed to have such great families to celebrate with. Now, with that being said let's talk about Christmas!
Thank you to Bobbie for putting the plans together. I love that we have a family planner. :) Mom and I were discussing meal planning for the Christmas gathering. From what I have heard most of us will be arriving on Wednesday or Thursday, which means that is quite a few days of us eating and drinking together. (YEAH!!) We decided to make a high level list of things that will be needed to help get us covered over that period of time, plus for the big gathering. Please review and let us know where you would like to help out. If there are other things we missed that you would like to add to the list please feel free to do so.
Drinks: Soda (Dt. and Regular), Milk, Chocolate Milk, Juice, Beer, Wine, Coffee Creamer. Mom said they have the whiskey and coffee to cover, but if you have a particular flavor bring it.
Paper Products: Plates and Napkins (mom has plenty of silverware and cups)
Snacks: Chips, crackers, nuts, meat and cheese tray, etc
Desserts: Cookies, pies, bars, etc.
Salads: any kind sweet or salty
Relish Tray: Veggies, pickles, dips. Adding Fruit to this section as well.
Breakfast Meats
Mom will cover meat and potato for the big event. Mom also said she will pickup whatever is not selected from the above items.
Sleeping Arrangements: There are 22 people in our family now. We will need to figure out sleeping arrangments for 15 of us. Mom said they are planning on opening up Vince's house and the camper for anyone who would like to accept the offer. Also, if we all want to be cozy bring your blowup beds and we can all squeeze in. :) (my preference, i love the family togetherness!)
Talk to everyone soon, I am very excited for all of us to get together.

This post made me chuckle for some reason! I think it sounds like we're planning a convention...who is presenting? Will a Smart Board be needed? How many sessions are required? Will there be spa time? I think I'm just giddy because Santa and the elves are working really hard to make it possible for us to come home and see/meet everyone! It also could be the coffee that I just drank (not a coffee drinker and got the jitters)! Soooo excited!
spa time- now that's a great idea!!!!
You guys are great! Thanks for the laugh-out-loud moment. It's just that our little Jeannie is all grown up now and has turned into quite the responsible planner. Who knew? But it still doesn't make up for the fact that she lost my dog once. Tee hee!
Really....all good stuff Jeans and Mom! As we get a little closer to the holiday, I'll reply with what I plan to bring.
And PS....I triple bless the spa time idea!
I am sure the boys can work up some pig crap for your spa treatment. I hear it really rejuvenates your skin.
For now...we will bring sleeping bags, pillows and bath towels for Vince's for Ter and I...I have a feeling Taylor will want to stay at Grama and Grampas with all the kids. I am planning on making Cereal Mix, Choc nut clusters, bringing dill pickles, salsa and chips, schwans summer sausage, Ter's concerned the ice cream treats will not stay frozen for the period of the car ride back home, in case some of you have ideas...let him know. We will plan on bringing our favorite pop and beverages and we can bring napkins and plates too. I will also thow in some kind of fruit...hope we have enough eggs for the festivies :). Can't wait to see everyone and if there is anything else you need for us to bring...just let us know! We will bring the bingo cage and cards as mom emailed me on that. Love and Hugs to everyone!!
Sounds good, Tammy,
I figured on maybe the bingo on Fri. nite? Or whenever the troops seem bored.
I have on order a make up kit ( eye stuff, blush, lipstick, nail polish) that I figured we could let the little kids dress up and be made up??
Ordered a prime rib and have a pork loin that Dave volunteered to cook on the new grill/smoker he is investing in. No problem with the guys handling the meat!
Will make the popcorn/white chocolate party mix, and caramel heavenlies. Made sticky buns and a bear's claw yesterday. (Frozen until needed). Will order a bag of lettuce from work and maybe a block of american cheese.
Can cook up some turkey for sandwiches or soup for the time b4 Saturday-
Looking forward to seeing you all!
That is as far as I have thought.
Tell David I am jealous...both my boys have smokers and I really want one...they are so fun and make amazing food on them!!
Hi everyone. I figured it was about time I got a plan on what I was going to bring. I will be doing some additional holiday baking, just because, so I will bring a few cookies and bars, but I won't get too carried away as it seems like we are all more and more conscious of the desserts. I will bring a 6 to 7 pound ham from country sliced ham. we can eat it whenever...it is really good stuff! To balance out the cookies, I will bring a bunch of veggies and stuff for spinach dip! I have a couple boxes of snack crackers that I will bring as well.
Is that enough stuff to help with the need? Mom, if you think of anything else, let me know!
I have picked up about eight or so little prizes for the bingo tournament, or for whatever we want to use them for. I tried to get a mix of things for all ages. I think I will wrap them, and people can take their chances and then trade if they want someone else's prize?... I thought that might add to the fun.
I am not sure how we are going to fit all this in the car, plus Steve! You will probably hear Kevin cursing in South Dakota as I load us up! LOL.
See everyone on Thursday!
I picked up about 4 bingo gifts...hope I don't forget the bingo game....jk...what we do is wrap them and then put for instance..bingo kid...bingo guy...bingo lady...so they kind of have some idea what to choose...I too think by wrapping them it makes it more special...especially the kids :) Can't wait to see everyone...PS: Ter Bear still does not think the ice cream would make the trip...so we will see how much twisting of his arm I can do :) I also picked up some bananas...clementimes...paper plates...paper bowls...napkins...have the nut clusters made, cereal mix and bringing stuff to make Rotel dip and chips...schwans summer sausage...crackers...cheese...picklese...salsa....pop....Let the festivities begin!! Can't wait to see you all!
