Adding telemarketer to my job experience

For the past couple weeks I have been helping one of our companies sell natural gas. Once a year, a good chunk of central and western Nebraska residents get to choose their natural gas supplier for the next year. One of our companies is one of the suppliers, so we have a call center set up for two weeks.
This year, I was recruited to work in the call center to help handle calls from larger usage customers (commercial type) to sign up with us. The sign-up period ends Thursday, May 1. I'll be glad -- I'm not used to being on the phone that much and will be happy to return to my old office.
It's been an educating experience, though, as I've learned quite a bit.
So if you have any questions on natural gas -- throw 'em my way! And much like everything else, it's getting more expensive. :)

Kriz-Hurley Vegas Vacation-Saved the best for last :)

VD & Jilly after the end of the day at the Grand Canyon when she realized how much VD was like her brother Terry.

Our drive to the Grand Canyon - a tad bit stressful for the boys - 8 hours together in the car. As you can tell by these head shots.

You can only imagine what Jilly and I had to put up with all day sitting in the backseat with those two in the front.

It truly is one of the seven wonders of the world! Breath Taking. You wouldn't see me out on the edge like these people were doing.

Next....on to the Hoover Damn Tour along with all of VD & Terry's Damn Jokes...it was Damn Awesome!
The new Damn Bridge being constructed.

Terry & Tammy - she was damn afraid as she is damn afraid of heights.
It truly amazes us to think of the technology and skills they had back when the damn was constructed.
I cannot believe how long it took me to get Terry to take a long weekend to go and visit the VD & Jilly hotel - especially when one has such wonderful entertaining guests as Oscar and Ace :) Hope they still like their new toy from Aunty Tammy.

VD and Tammy found they could do great things cooking in the kitchen together...which was a blast in itself.

We got to tour the school where Jilly teaches and her classroom kids who love her and of course one little boy that hit it off with Ter.

We also got to see the beautiful property that VD manages and got to see him all dressed up in a suit and tie.

We truly enjoyed our great tour guides...the great food....the laughs and of course the winnings from everyone...but Tammy :)

We will be back :)

CA & Vegas Vacation

Okay here are a few pics from our CA trip. It was a really good time. It was very relaxing and the hotel was great. The only complaint that we had was that it was not longer. Tammy and I spent some time at the beach and checked out Dana Point where they had a lot of nice boats and some dingy's (hehehe).

Of course I was able to golf. I did pretty well considering they said that if you have not played the course before that you should bring about a dozen balls. Well I only lost two. Okay, I lost more then two, but I found four, so you do the math on how many I actually lost. It was a very beautiful course with a view of the ocean on every hole. Unfortunely I forgot the camera, so I was not able to get any pics on the course.

Tammy and I ate at the hotels beach house one afternoon. The next night I guess Magic Johnson was there and a few people that stayed at the hotel seen him and his son eating. That was our almost brush with fame.

The company that paid for most of the trip for us to go had a nice 4 course dinner and party the last night that we were there. They had a 12 piece band and hired two guys to play the Blues Brothers. They were really good. We did not get to stay till the end however because we had to get up at 4:00 AM to head back home.

Hope everyone is doing good. I thought I would share one last picture from Vegas. We also had a blast with Jill and VD the weekend before. Mom, just thought I would share that I did pretty well in Vegas with your early b-day gift for me. I think Dave and I both quite at the tables at the right time.

Just a little update...

Just an update -- nothing too big. It finally warmed up after a looonng, cold, rainy stretch. The only problem is with the 60-70 degree temps came the 30-40 mph winds.

We've had some illness running through our family. I think I've been hit the hardest -- I've got a nasty cold I can't seem to get rid of. It's been a week and a half with no sign of let up. I haven't even hopped on the bike to commute to work the last two days, so you know it's bad.

Kade had a dentist appt. the other day and they discovered his first cavity. He doesn't know what's in store for him when he returns to have it filled in May. We're sparing him the gory details. I drew the short straw and will take him -- it probably won't be pretty. Up until now, he thought the sole purpose of the dentist was just looking inside his mouth and then rewarding him with a sucker.

Bobbie got up at about 5 a.m. this morning to get Abbey out and drive to the Y to get some swimming in before work. I don't know how she does that. She has great discipline when it comes to getting her exercise.

That's it for now. Hope everybody is doing good.

Speaking of summer........

Just wondering if your boat comes equipped with ice floats? How are things in SD and MN? Sounds kind of nasty from what we are hearing down here. We've only gotten rain and wind in Lincoln, with a flurry here and there.

I am guessing that between the cancelled airplane flights that have been in the news and the weather, Terry and Tammy may have to take up permanent residence at their California resort!

Hope everyone is staying warm. Travel safe!

Summer Fun On The Water

Yes it true we are the proud owners of a bran new (to us) 1988 bayliner boat. It seats 8 comes fully equipped with life jackets, tube, water skis, and ropes. Its 17 foot long, blue and has a 85 horse Force motor(there was a set of oars in there to, wonder what they are for). We haven't brought it home yet, it was to snowy the day we got it but probably in a couple of weeks. I wish I knew how to put pictures on this thing, I wanted to put some huge sea faring vessel on but oh well. So we are officially seamen and women.

As for the machine shed we found floor that we haven't seen in 30 years. Pretty impressive hah.

The young and the young at heart

This past weekend we covered the spectrum of sporting activities. My 75-year-old mom played in a "granny" basketball game Friday night at my old high school for charity and Kade played in his first organized sporting event on Saturday -- "micro" YMCA soccer for four and five-year olds.

We drove over to watch my mom -- it was quite the event. The oldest player was 84 -- most of the players were in their 60s and 70s. My mother was one of the more scrappier ones. She still has the competitive juices, it seems. As you can see by the photo (mom is on the left), they dressed in 1920s basketball clothing -- not exactly Nike apparel, though I dig the socks!

On the flip side -- Kade happened to score the first goal of the season for the up-and-coming Generals! He's one of the smaller boys out there, so to see his goal and ensuing celebration dance was pretty cool for us parents.

We've been informed we have the duty of bringing the after-game refreshments next week (I think he meant for the kids). I guess that means we've been officially indoctrinated into the "Soccer Mom" club.

If this news is true, Uncle Dave and Aunt Melissa will immediately be raised to the top of the Favorite Uncle/Aunt Rankings and will remain there as long as the boat is in working order. We need details Dave!...

/spring is truly here

I have to think that the winter effect has been broken! Surprisingly, it's not the sunshine, absence of snow or birds singing in the yard--- you will never believe it!! Uncle Dave and Dad are spring cleaning the machine shed! Not only that but they are throwing stuff away, making a give away pile and building shelves all across the south side to organize and store stuff.

I am beginning to believe in global warming--- a clean machine shed has never existed on this place, at least since the thing was built. So be forewarned-- you may need a map to find your way around the shed now. I'm pretty sure I won't know where to look for things like the hacksaw, or wire clippers to cut my bale strings. I might have to get my own equipment.
I suppose I should add, if anyone wants to see this event, you should show up at home soon cause it's probably not going to last. ( At least it doesn't in my housecleaning type of experience.)

So, on that note, I'll end this--- couldn't resist sharing-- Love to you all!! Mom
